Nothing is more painful than a toothache. If you’ve ever had a toothache, you know how important it is to find relief. A toothache, whether sharp and intermittent or dull and constant, can be more than just an annoyance; it can ruin your entire day or keep you from sleeping at night.

You may be wondering if there are any at-home solutions you can try because you want the pain to go away as soon as possible. Of course, you want to protect your oral health, so going to the dentist whenever you have a problem with your teeth or gums is a must! However, to relieve the pain until you can see your dentist, try some of these home remedies for toothache

Cold Compress

A cold compress can help reduce the inflammation that is common with toothaches. A specially formulated cold pack can be used to make one, but a bag of frozen vegetables will suffice in a pinch! For 20 minutes at a time, apply the compress to the troublesome side of your face. To avoid skin irritation, wrap it in a soft cloth or towel.

Warm Compress

You can make a warm compress instead if you prefer the therapeutic power of heat. If you don’t already have one, you can make one at home. Heat, in particular, can help relieve pain. Simply stuff a clean sock with uncooked rice and tie it tightly. After that, microwave it for two to three minutes. The heat from the compress will interrupt the pain signals traveling from your mouth to your brain when you apply it to the affected side of your face. This is a good tip to fix toothache at home.

Saltwater Rinse

Before you do anything else, go to the kitchen. You might discover that you already have everything you need to make an effective home remedy to fix toothache. A warm saltwater solution will not only relieve your pain but will also aid in the cleaning of the irritated area around your tooth. Simply mix one cup of warm water with half a teaspoon of salt, rinse, and spit. Repeat this several times per day.

Peppermint Tea Bag

Peppermint is a natural (and tasty!) way to relieve tooth nerve pain. To begin making this treatment, make a cup of peppermint tea. Allow a few minutes for the tea bag to steep before removing it. Apply the tea bag to the affected area in your mouth while it is still warm (but not hot). Some people prefer to chill their tea bags in the freezer for a few minutes before using them. This can be a particularly soothing and relaxing method of relieving toothache at night.

Clove Oil

Clove oil has long been used to alleviate oral pain. Its main ingredient is eugenol, a natural antiseptic that aids in wound sterilization. This oil is available at your local grocery store or pharmacy. If you have tooth pain, dab a little oil on a clean cotton swab or cotton ball. Then, apply it to your tooth’s affected area. If it appears to be too strong, dilute it with a small amount of water. You can also mix it with a carrier oil like olive or almond oil. Clove oil is a famous product to fix toothache.

 Garlic

Garlic, like clove oil, is a natural ingredient well-known for its medicinal properties. How do you get rid of tooth nerve pain? If you have a few garlic cloves on hand, crush them into a paste and apply it to the affected area. The garlic will help kill the bacteria around your tooth and numb it. If you prefer, you can season the paste with salt.
