Starbucks Now Open In Rome

The iconic Piazza di Montecitorio in the heart of Rome has welcomed a new addition to its historical landscape - Starbucks. This marks the first-ever Starbucks location in the bustling center of Rome, offering locals and tourists alike a taste of the renowned venti experience. With its distinctive emerald green mermaid logo, Starbucks beckons customers to indulge in their favorite beverages while surrounded by the ancient obelisk and the Italian Parliament building.

While Starbucks initially faced criticism upon its entry into Italy in 2018, the coffee giant has managed to thrive in the country. Despite resistance from traditionalists, Starbucks has expanded steadily, and the Montecitorio location in Rome marks Italy's 25th Starbucks store. The company shows no signs of slowing down its growth, with plans to continue expanding its presence throughout Italy.

The interior of the two-story Starbucks in Piazza di Montecitorio showcases a departure from the chain's typical American shops. Downstairs, a luxurious and inviting ambiance is created with neutral tan walls and mottled marble floors. Upstairs, earth-toned artwork complements the warm blonde wood and caramel-hued upholstery, paying homage to the materials used in the Piazza di Montecitorio and seamlessly blending with the surrounding architecture.

One of the highlights of this Starbucks location is the breathtaking view of the Chamber of Deputies, a fusion of Rome's diverse architectural styles. Visitors can choose to relax in one of the 80 available seats or grab their orders to-go and explore nearby historical sites like the Pantheon and Column of Marcus Aurelius.

Starbucks has ambitious plans for further expansion in Italy. In addition to two new grab-and-go spots in Termini Station, the company aims to open a total of 36 Starbucks locations in the country by the end of 2023. Matteo Morandi, CEO of Percassi Retail, expressed excitement about the future, emphasizing that the Montecitorio opening is just the beginning of a series of delightful surprises for the city.
