A recent survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of the Flavia hot beverage system sheds light on the deep-rooted affinity of office workers towards coffee. The survey, which involved 2,050 U.S.-based office workers, reveals fascinating insights about our morning rituals and the role coffee plays in our productivity and mood throughout the day.

Morning Routine and Beverage Preferences

In the survey, more than half of the respondents (66%) considered a steaming hot cup of coffee as their go-to "first drink of the day." Moreover, 47% expressed their inclination towards iced coffee upon arriving at work. Water (45%) and flavored water (30%) were also popular choices among respondents.

Starting the Workday

For a significant number of respondents (59%), grabbing their preferred beverage, including coffee, was a common way to kickstart their workday. Alongside this ritual, other common activities at the start of the workday included getting organized (60%) and catching up on emails (55%).

Coffee Consumption Habits

The survey revealed that a substantial majority of participants (77%) stated that it takes at least two cups of coffee for them to feel truly productive. Mondays emerged as the day when 24% of respondents required the most coffee, reflecting a general sentiment among office workers. Additionally, more than half of the respondents (60%) turn to coffee as a quick pick-me-up during work hours.

The survey highlighted that 87% of respondents were attending the office for two to three days a week. Camille Vareille, VP, Head of Marketing Americas, Lavazza Group, emphasized the significance of offering free beverages as a workplace perk, as it can make employees feel valued and motivate them to work from the office. Investing in on-site beverages not only saves employees time and money but also encourages them to return to the office.
The survey results emphasize the deep-rooted love for coffee among office workers and the potential benefits of providing free beverages as a workplace perk. The data highlights the cost and time efficiency of having coffee available in the office, promoting employee satisfaction and saving on expenses associated with offsite coffee runs. Coffee plays a significant role in the lives of office workers, and its availability can contribute to a more productive and enjoyable work environment.
