SIUT Operates On A 5 Year Old For An open Heart Surgery

Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) has achieved a remarkable milestone by performing its first-ever open-heart surgery on a 5-year-old girl, Zainab. The successful operation is a testament to the trust and confidence that the people of Pakistan have in SIUT and its Director, Prof Adib Rizvi, and his team.
Zainab was suffering from a hole in her heart, which caused frequent chest infections and increased blood flow to the lungs. A team of 9 doctors, 2 perfusionists, and 8 nurses worked tirelessly to ensure the safe and successful surgery and post-operative care of the child.

The procedure was carried out in SIUT's Cardiac Operation Theatre, and Zainab made a remarkable recovery. Within three hours, she was able to come off the ventilator and has since made an excellent recovery. The young girl was discharged from the hospital on Friday after the successful surgery.
