Most first-world countries have established this fact and already working to reverse it. However, there is more evidence to solidify the claims of doctors to reduce and abolish the use of extremely refined products. Early reasons for death can be the consumption of extra processed foods like:

  • Hot dogs
  • Chips
  • Soft drinks
  • Ice cream
  • Sausages

American Research On Processed Foods

Research published by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine approximated that in 2019, around 57,000 Brazilian deaths from the age bracket of 30- 69 occurred due to a high consumption pattern of processed foods. That amounts to greater than 10% of annual premature deaths in Brazil amongst that age.

The authors say their study is the very first to estimate the influence of ultra-processed food on the threat of passing.

The study utilized historical data analyses between groups that ate processed foods and those that did not. This is alarming for many countries where rules for such foods are lax.

Eduardo Nilson, at the University of São Paulo, is a nutrition researcher and he shares that "it is very likely that heart disease is among the main factors" contributing to these premature deaths. Diabetes, cancer, obesity, and chronic kidney disease may play a role as well, he said.

What Are Ultra Processed Foods

Foods that contain more man-made ingredients such as flavors, colorings, or various other additives are ultra-processed.

Instant noodles, frozen pizza, and also store-bought cookies typically fall within this category.

How To Control The Damage

Nilson and his team have concluded that if ultra-processed food consumption is reduced by 23% daily then there is a predicted decline in the number of premature deaths occurring due to food choices.

The threat is far from over the case of such premature deaths is high in the US as well. Although there is enough awareness about healthy and organic eating. Yet, diabetes, blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases are all common in America as well.
