As the film celebrated its 20th anniversary, Rao shared how she was approached by the filmmakers with a special gift to sign the debut project, just like her co-star Shahid Kapoor.

In a recent interview, Rao revealed that director Ken Ghosh noticed her in a Cadbury Perk advertisement with a Karwa Chauth theme and instantly saw her as the perfect fit for the character of Payal. Ghosh then presented the ad film to the renowned movie moguls Kumar and Ramesh Taurani of Tips Films.

"At that time, I was still in school and not particularly interested in making my debut in movies," Rao added.

She further shared that the producers approached her with a cake, a flower bouquet, and a promise to make her a star. They also offered an enticing contract. "The rest, as they say, is history," Rao shared with the interviewer.

Released in 2003, 'Ishq Vishk' was a coming-of-age romantic comedy written and directed by Ken Ghosh. The film marked the debut of both Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, alongside Shenaz Treasurywala. The cast also included Neelima Azeem (Kapoor's mother), Vishal Malhotra, Yash Tonk, and Satish Shah, among others.
